Councillor Minaam Goes to Jordan

This December, I am embarking on a mission to Jordan with Greengate Trust to support Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in refugee camps. This cause is deeply personal to me, as the ongoing crisis has displaced countless families, forcing them to seek refuge in camps under unimaginable conditions.

Jordan is home to over 2 million registered Palestinian refugees, the largest number in any country served by the UNRWA. These refugees are enduring extreme hardship, struggling without access to basic necessities like food, clean water, and proper shelter. The overcrowded camps are especially vulnerable during the harsh winter months.

Right now, North Gaza’s people desperately need your support. Greengate Trust has partnered with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to deliver urgent aid to North Gaza. We are sending 700 food parcels per aid truck, along with nutritious hot meals, to families struggling to survive.

Each £50 food parcel supplies enough food to sustain a family of four/five for a full month. By contributing to the emergency food parcel truck, you are ensuring life-saving aid reaches those who need it most. Together, we can make a big difference for our brothers and sisters facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

As Muslims, charity is a fundamental part of our faith. I am reminded of the words of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him):

“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”

“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry.”

These words echo deeply, reminding us of our duty to care for those in need.

We will be on the ground, delivering food parcels, hot meals, and relief directly to refugees in Jordan while also ensuring vital aid reaches families in North Gaza.
