Hi everyone. This September, I will be heading to Jordan with an all women deployment team led by Greengate Trust to distribute humanitarian aid to Palestinian and Syrian refugees. Food parcels, hot meals, hygiene kits and warm clothing are just some of the essentials we will be delivering to those displaced by war. In order to raise urgent funds for this mission, I will be attempting a solo climb up Ben Nevis very soon in August!  

Why Ben Nevis?

Ben Nevis is the tallest mountain in the UK, Scotland and Wales. Standing at 1,345 metres, I know it’s not the likes of Mt Kili or K2. Still, it is a symbol of strength, endurance and resilience. The same qualities shown by the Palestinians under unimaginable conditions. I’m not a seasoned climber, not even an athlete. I’m just someone with a heavy heart, just wanting to do whatever bit more. And I choose to climb alone because I want to walk this path with reflection. For so many people in Gaza, being alone is not a choice. It’s the result of war. A senseless genocide that has wiped out entire families and created the devastating acronym WCNSF (Wounded Child No Surviving Family). I hope to carry their stories with me into the sacred silence of the mountain as I find comfort in His remembrance with every uphill step.
